OC Beach hosted their 6th Annual Invitational on Friday, April 1st with OC Pairs of Junior Ashlyn Rough and Margo Smith as the Champions for 2021 OC Beach Invitational title. The invitational consisted schools of Hamilton, Queen Creek, Northwest Christian, Perry, Deer Valley and Mountain Ridge . The Invitational consisted of 40 pairs to compete on a beautiful day at Victory Lanes.

OC Beach had 5 pairs finishing in the Gold division. The competition consisted of pool play and cross pool to give deciding factor to determine divisions for final bracelet play. Rough and M. Smith of first time pairing went undefeated for the day and earned the Gold Championship Title game vs OC Beach pair of sophomores Emma Soncrant and Liana Huesca 21-18. Junior Sophia Myers and Senior Hannah Doyle tied 3rd in the gold with Northwest standouts of Seniors Mackenzie Wise (GCU commit) and Reagan Hope (Oregon Commit). Myers/Doyle lost in Semi-finals vs Soncrant/Huesca 18-21 to advance finals giving their only lost for the day.

Freshmen standout, Katie Lambeth and Alyssa Flores finished tied 5th with Seniors Trinity Freeman and Sarah Martin. Lambeth/Flores elevated their game and showcased their chemistry beating top pairs from Mountain Ridge, Perry and OC teammates. Freeman/Martin lost in tough nail biter match vs Myers/Doyle 20-22 to advance to the semi-finals and was their only lost for the day.

In the Silver division, Freshmen Piper Rama and Tristin Smith took the title with 21-17 win vs Deer Valley’s Emee Fellens and Liz Rupp. In the Bronze division, Queen Creek pair of Kylie Pew and Blaykli Bobik took the title vs Deer Valley’s Amanda Christman and Ashlynn Compo.

The success of the event was concluded with great competition to showcase each pairs strengths and adjustments needed to compete at all divisions and look forward to next year.

Thursday home Match vs Desert Vista was a sweep 5-0 and gives OC Beach a great start of the season. OC Beach will face a tough Xavier team on Wednesday, April 7th at their home turf.
