The Eagles traveled to the homerdome of Desert Mt. and came away with a 16-4 victory over the Wolves. The Eagles pounded out 16 hits, led by Amari Bartee going 3 for 4 with a 3 run bomb and 6 RBI’s on the day. Nolan Gorman hit his team high 8th home run of the year. Jayce Easley and Zak Elms each had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s on the day.
The Wolves scored first with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st, but the Eagles responded with 4 runs, thanks to Bartee and Easley RBI singles. This game was close, at 5-2 going into the 6th inning, when the Eagles exploded for 6 runs thanks to 6 hits in a row. In the bottom half with the Wolves trying to come back in an 11-3 ballgame with bases loaded and one out, an DM player hit a towering pop fly in front of the mound. The infield fly rule was in effect, but the runner from 3rd ran anyway and was tagged out by Gorman at home plate. Then the Eagles scored 5 more runs to top it off in the 7th, keyed by the Bartee 3-run Jack. Mitchell DeCovich was the winning pitcher tonight, with Nicholas Schouten and Tucker Bates each pitching an inning of relief. The Eagles will play the Wolves again, in a rematch, Tuesday at home at 3:45 for senior day.
