The Pumas from Perry, jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the Eagles came back to win the game 7-4. Perry got a solo run in first on a sac fly, 2 in the 2nd on a defensive miscue, and 1 in the 3rd off a double. From there the Eagles relievers put up 4 consecutive 0’s and the offense put up 7 runs to win the game. The OC got on the board in the 2nd, down 3-0, with a double steal and an Aiden Sullivan RBI single. The Eagles tied it up at 4 with 2 more in the 3rd thanks to a Josh Butler 2 RBI single up the middle. In the 5th the OC would take the lead for good with a Butler bases loaded walk and a Sullivan 2 RBI single. Cannon Smith went 3 1/3 in his start followed by Cole Dickson and finished by Hustyn Wheeler.
Momentum: Offensively that 2 RBI single from Butler was huge. It was just knuckled up the middle. Looked like the shortstop had a beat on it but couldn’t get to it. Then after a strikeout with bases loaded, Sullivan had a huge 2 RBI single with 2 outs to give us a little separation. Then the final momentum shift came in the 6th inning, where after a walk and single, Wheeler came on to get a 4-6-3 double play and a strikeout to get out of trouble.
Gameball: Aiden Sullivan had 2 big hits after dropping a flyball in rightfield early. Great to see a young man who puts in so much time and leadership, battle through some adversity and help his team to victory.
Coaches: Boys Volleyball coaches Dueling and Williams were in the house, getting some much needed sun on this legs, while Dr. Dre Rogers was out with the family supporting his 2 sport star.
3 left: 3 regular season games left to position ourselves for a playoff run. Should be 3 great games with Monday at #1 Hamilton, Tuesday home vs. Brophy and Wednesday senior night vs. Shadow Ridge.
