The OC took down the BC in a very quick 2-1 ballgame. The Jaguars got on the board in the first inning with a leadoff single, bunted to second, then scoring on a double down the right field line. From there Cal Lambert would dominate, putting up 6 straight innings of zeros and giving the offense a chance to win the ball game. In the 5th inning down 1-0, Colton Kucera led off with a single, followed by a Barrett Skaugrud single. A double steal would get the runners in scoring position. With one out, Brayden Nichols lined a 2 run single into left field for the Eagles only offense of the game. Lambert finished the game off, going 7 strong innings with 5 strikeouts, and getting the final out on a comebacker to the mound. The Eagles sweep BC, which would have resulted in the ringing of a gigantic bell, before both teams threw the bell into the bottom of Lake Pleasant. The Eagles finish up the regular season with a home game Monday vs. Red Mt. and a Tuesday/Thursday series vs. Mt. Ridge.

Coaches Corner:
Sometimes when a game gets out of hand in the first meeting, you just expect to show up and allow the team to roll over, but BC had a much better fight today. Luckily we were a better team today as well. A great hour and a half game that was very competitive and fun to be a part of. Much better than both teams felt the night previous.

Gameball:
Cal Lambert is really a competitor. He pounded the zone today and did a good job of pitching to contact. If you watch him as a senior, it is hard to believe there was a time he couldn’t go past 5 with his pitch count in previous years. The kid has really matured into a pitcher and it is fun to watch him. Also great to see him develop a much better rapport with freshman catcher Preston Lucas.

Getting hot:
Senior Brayden Nichols is swinging a competitive bat at just the right time. Thursday he crushes a 2 run bomb then follows it up with a 2 run single to account for the Eagles offense on the day.

Finish Strong:
We have put ourselves in position to achieve a lot of goals this week, in our last 3 games. That is really all you can ask for as a team, just to have a chance and control your own destiny. Should be an exciting week against a few Mountain teams.
