The OC took a short flight to Hamilton high school for a battle against the #1 ranked team in the state. The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning, after back to back singles but Preston Lucas and Kolt Kurzman, followed by a Chase Valentine 2 RBI double. But the Huskies responded with 3 of their own to take the lead in the bottom half. And so would begin a repeating loop of the Eagles scoring runs but the Huskies matching in their half. The Eagles scored 1 in the 4th thanks to Hustyn Wheeler driving in Jacob Miller after his leadoff double. But the Huskies got 5 runs in the bottom half. Both teams would go back and forth throughout the night with the Huskies coming out on top with a 12-8 win.

Offensive- Our boys really competed against their pitchers all night. I felt really good about our ability to fight in the box. Valentine had 2 doubles and Wheeler had an RBI triple to go with his single. Really good effort against their top 3 pitchers.

Turning point- We just couldn’t put up a zero after we scored. The heart breakers were the 5 spot in the 4th, but also those 2 extra runs in the 5th. If we could have eliminated one of those extra outburst in either of those innings we would have had a real shot.

Gameplan- Our goal this week is to put some guys in situations on the bump to find out who can give us some quality innings going forward. We have to find some guys who can compete within this strikezone. That team really crushed some balls, but if we can take away the 8 walks/hit batsmen, that would be a different game. It is not just the runs, 3 of those walks scored, it is the turning over of the lineup so dudes are getting comfortable in the 4th or 5th at bat…

Positives= I thought Luke Dickson showed that his stuff can play at this level. Just has to keep believing in it and competing in the strikezone. Blake Tigges got his first action out of the pen today. What a time to do so with bases juiced 2 outs against the top team in the state. Kid competed though and I thought did well.

Big week- We have to finish strong in these next 2 games to set us up for playoffs. We are showing some signs of competing at the dish, now it is time to do the same on the bump. Brophy home tomorrow should be a good challenge, then Shadow Ridge on Wednesday for senior day and our first matchup ever against them. Should be fun!
